The question on nature vs nurture is very real with me. Having grown up without a father figure there’s traits that I have and I’m not sure how! Being aware of my strengths and weaknesses I’m also concerned that I’ll pass some of those over to my little one. A recent study has shown that there are certain attributes that pass across from Mum and some from Dad! Interesting. Virtues such as honesty, integrity and tolerance are most likely to come from mothers while courage, laziness and a good sense of direction come from fathers. Oh dear, I think I’m a human homing pigeon but I’m more like a lost penguin . While mothers are most likely to be responsible for passing down traits including kindness, reliability and good organisational skills, fathers are likely to be behind your temper, wit and potty mouth. Ok we’re good here, WIT! Definitely 🙂 I’m quite reserved with the Potty Mouth. A love of sport, and also the football team you support is most likely to be inspired by your father, while mothers pass down a love of music and their dancing ability. I’m not sure if this is the best to be honest. I support Arsenal and Wigan and Mrs P’s dancing is questionable I hope she reads this. It also emerged that more than half of the 2,000 adults polled share the same interests and hobbies as at least one of their parents, and 22 per cent said that, as a child, they wanted to follow in their parents’ footsteps. This is also something major for me as I’m doing the Coast to Coast Charity Challenge I’ve created to provide an inspirational platform for them to do something equally as important. More than one in ten even ended up doing the same, or a similar career as their mother or father. One in four also said they have used their parents’ success as a benchmark for their own success, with 42 per cent saying they consider their mother or father to be their hero. Amazing! That’s what I want to be known as. Traits most likely to come from Fathers

I wonder if the mothers traits are more likely to be passes to girls and father’s to boys? My sisters and I are very much like my Mum in nearly every way (although I have my dad’s ability to blag stuff!) yet my little brother is very much like his dad.
Both of my girls seem to have taken after me although one more than the other. It’s crazy seeing your own temperament and traits talking back at you. It’s also hard to tell them off when you know you would have been exactly the same!
Do you think that could be due to time spent and role models? Interesting.
